Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has pledged to relocate the Ministry of Agriculture to Tamale should he be elected President of Ghana.
According to the presidential aspirant, the move is part of a broader vision to decentralize governance and harness the agricultural potential of the northern region.
In a statement, Mr. Agyapong indicated that he would leverage existing infrastructure in Tamale to boost agro-exports and stimulate economic growth.
“When I become President, I’ll move the Ministry of Agriculture to Tamale and convert 90% of the Tamale Airport into a cargo terminal to export vegetables to Europe,” he said in a post on X.
The former Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region added that his administration would prioritize agricultural industrialization and job creation.
“We’ll build fertilizer plants, mechanize farms and create jobs, not propaganda,” the outspoken politician indicated.
He used the platform to rally support from party delegates ahead of the NPP’s upcoming primaries.
“Let’s liberate ourselves and vote for business-minded leadership that puts money in your pocket. VOTE NO. 1 on the Ballot.”
The NPP is scheduled to hold its internal elections on January 31, 2026, to select leaders who will steer the party into the 2028 general elections.
