Deputy Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jennifer Queen, has alleged that the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is a beneficiary of illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, she alleged that the NDC government has profited from galamsey, claiming that some political actors within the party have used funds generated from these activities to acquire personal properties.
She argued that the NDC gained power by leveraging allegations of galamsey against the NPP, using them to sway public opinion.
“The NDC is benefiting from galamsey fight that made NDC win because they told NPP cannot help Ghanaians,” she disclosed.
Queen further noted that the current government has exploited incidents surrounding galamsey during the previous administration as a political strategy to gain power, asserting that the NPP has failed to curb the issue.
“The NDC took advantage of galamsey activities during the NPP’s tenure to campaign against NPP,” she pinpointed.
She said that the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) is there to help fight galamsey and not to harm individuals.
Therefore culprits should be handed over to the police for investigation.
