Three individuals are currently standing trial at an Accra High Court over the 2020 election-related violence in the Odododiodio constituency.
Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, made the disclosure and said the suspects have been identified for their involvement in the violence that disrupted the electoral process.
He disclosed that this follows the conclusion of investigations into the 2020 election-related violence in Odododiodio and other centers.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Mr. Muntaka stated that the three suspects are being prosecuted by the Attorney-General’s Department.
“Investigations into the incident failed to identify the persons who shot and killed the deceased Rita Otoo and Emmanuel Dompreh.
“However, three identified persons by police as those who fired shot into the crowd and injuring them, were charged with the offences of conspiracy to commit murder, contrary to sections 23 (1) and 46 of the criminal offences Act 1960 Act 29 and attempted murder, contrary to section 48 of the same Act.”
He emphasised; “They have been committed and are standing trial at the High Court, Criminal Court 1 Accra.”
The minister indicated that the Task Force responsible for the investigation recommended monetary compensation for the families of the deceased.
“The injured must abide by the judgment of the court in the trials, after which compensation, if any, may be determined,” Mr. Muntaka observed.
He added that the report has also been forwarded to the Attorney-General for consideration of compensation to the families of the deceased.
The docket has also been referred to the ‘Cold Case Unit’, according to the honourable minister.
