NPP suspends party ID card issuance over inconsistencies, lack of coordination

The Corporate Affairs Officer of Tema Oil Refinery, Godwin Mahama Ayaba, has said that karma will not allow the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to escape accountability for the governance lapses that contributed to the mismanagement of Ghana’s economy.

Mr. Ayaba believes the Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia administration was driven by ill intentions and marked by corruption and related activities.

“The NPP government led by Akuffo-Addo and Bawumia as vice with Ken Ofori Atta as Finance Minister had no good intentions for the country,” he said.

According to him, the actions of the former government appointees can best be described as assuming power only to “steal from the country.”

Mr. Ayaba, citing a series of cases involving some NPP officials under the incumbent government, said it reflects how they created and looted resources, resulting in the loss of significant state funds.

“They demolished the La General Hospital to reconstruct but not even a block was laid before they left power, they wasted millions all in the name of building a cathedral, they spent $11m to construct a multipurpose dam and others,” he added.

He continued, adding that the NPP had a wicked mindset during their reign. However, he reminded the public that they will equally and dearly reap what they sow.

Godwin Ayaba’s statement comes in the wake of discussions following President John Dramani Mahama’s directive for a forensic audit into the 13th All African Games hosted in Accra, Ghana, in March 2024.

Reiterating the incumbent government’s commitment to fight corruption and recover every penny meant for the state, he commended the President for the order.
