A devastating fire has ravaged parts of the Mallam-Atta market in Accra, destroying several wooden structures.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire was reported at 10:46pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

The first firefighting unit, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I Ahoni, arrived at the scene at 11:02pm, reinforcements from the Circle and Flagstaff House stations joined in the efforts at 11:13pm and 11:29pm, respectively.
The team successfully brought the blaze under control by 12:01am, and completely put out by 12:24am on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The fire resulted in the destruction of 12 wooden structures – six used as residential dwellings and six as shops.
The report further indicated that a 40-foot container serving as a cold store suffered partial damage.
Notably, several adjacent structures were saved from the inferno.

However, there were no reported injuries from the incident, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the authorities.
