Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson has announced roll out of a three-year program to construct 1,000km of enclave roads to connect major food-producing areas to markets.
Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement in Parliament on Thursday November 13, 2025, Mr. Forson said the program is aimed at reducing transport bottlenecks and curbing food inflation.
“Government has identified that the major cause of food inflation is the poor road linkage between food-producing enclaves and markets.
”As a result, we are announcing a three-year programme to construct 1,000km of agricultural enclave roads,“ he stated.
He noted that the agricultural road programme will be implemented to support selected food-processing enclaves with the aim of connecting opportunities, linking people, and boosting econmic growth.
He further revealed that, the programme will be led by the Department of Feeder Roads in collaboration with Ministry of Road and Highway and Ministry of Food and Agriculture to ensure efficient agricultural activities in the country.
“The selected food-processing enclaves will be supported by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Ministry of Road and Highway, to ensure that farm produce is efficiently transported to markets, reducing costs, minimizing post-harvest losses, and enhancing food security,” he underscored.
