Ellen Ama Daaku, a political commentator and an aide to flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged churches to build emergency shelters for victims of domestic abuse.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), she appealed to the various churches to build shelters across the country, providing refuge for victims while investigations into such cases are conducted.
“I plead with the Church of Pentecost Ghana and other churches to build shelters in every district and constituency, providing a safe place in the interim while we solve the matter,” she said on Monday, 24, 2025.
Madam Daaku also suggested that churches allocate a portion of their tithes and offerings to support the construction of these shelters.
Her proposal came on the back of a recent domestic violence incident where a man who was arrested by the Police after a viral video in which he was seen assaulting his wife surfaced on social media.
Madam Daaku, while making proposals towards curbing the growing trend in the country, labelled such acts as sheer wickedness and inhumanity.
“I am not sure he is mentally unstable, but rather wickedness and evilness caused him to do so.”
