The camp of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has dismissed allegations made against Irene Naa Torshie Addo, describing them as fabricated, baseless, and completely false.
Naa Torshie Addo, a former Tema West Member of Parliament (MP) and the immediate past Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is reported to have blamed former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the alleged failings of the erstwhile NPP government.
According to reports, she stated that Dr. Bawumia was responsible for the economic difficulties of the erstwhile administration and the failure of it to promptly release the Common Fund to various districts to oversee developments.
In a press statement from the camp of Mr. Agyapong, issued by the campaign spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, it said there is no iota of truth in the purported comments. It added that Naa Torshie had “never made any such statement,” stressing that the claims attributed to her were a complete fabrication and baseless.
“It is unfortunate that the Regional Chairman issued the release an official release without any verification and relied solely on random social media posts that had were never authenticated or confirmed not been authenticated or confirmed.
Despite this, the Regional Chairman proceeded to act on misinformation, leading to an avoidable circulation of a completely false allegation against Hon. Naa Torshie,” it added, recalling a statement from the NPP’s Greater Accra Chairman.
Naa Torshie, according to the release, fully rejects the allegations and urges the public and party faithful to disregard them, as “they do not reflect her views, words, or conduct.”
The statement further said she remains committed to the unity and progress of the NPP and encourages leaders at all levels to exercise greater care and due diligence before issuing public statements.
