A Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Krobea Asante, Krobea Asante says that Parliament is a platform for serious national matters and should not be treated as a playground.
He stated this in a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), emphasising that a nation with a weak and undervalued Parliament puts its democracy at stake.
“I personally would always advocate that Parliament should not be a playground; it cannot be considered as such; it is for serious business,” Mr. Krobea said on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
According to him, some parliamentarians are lowering the standards of Parliament, noting that Parliament used to be an institution for citizens to learn about state affairs through debates and other discussions.
Mr. Krobea alleged that many Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) do not meet the standard required to effectively address national issues in Parliament.
“You could clearly see that they are not there in terms of standard and appreciation of the issues of the economy,” he added.
