The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe, secure, and dignified learning environment for all learners, free from sexual harassment and abuse.
This pledge was made by the Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, in alignment with the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
A statement by the GES on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, assured parents to entrust their children to the service with the expectation beyond just academic learning, emphasising a safe environment.
“The GES stands firmly that no child should ever feel unsafe in school. No learner should ever suffer in silence,” the statement reads.
The 16 Days of Activism campaign, which the GES is participating in, aims to:
– Raise awareness about sexual harassment
– Educate learners, teachers, and communities
– Strengthen reporting and protection systems
– Ensure safe physical and digital spaces
– Challenge harmful norms that enable abuse
The Service urged individuals to join in efforts to “Ctrl + Alt + Delete sexual harassment from our schools.”
