Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, has highlighted the significance of the Build Your Dreams (BYD) project to the local economy.
The former Kumasi Mayor explained that the program will create employment opportunities, and equip young Ghanaians with practical skills.

In a phone-in-interview on the Midday News on Angel TV and Angel 102.9 FM on Thursday, November, 27, 2025, he mentioned that the development seeks to attract investment and foster business opportunities, while also equipping Ghanaian youth with practical skills in car manufacturing through targeted development programs.
“Youth development training would be part of the BYD initiative, which will manufacture cars.
“These are not electric cars, but they will produce other types of cars. The major cars are electric, and they will train youth to get jobs,” he pointed out.

Ambassador Kojo Bonsu said steps are already underway to secure land for the establishment of the Assembly plant.
“In the first quarter of the year, they will start signing the land acquisition papers for the Assembly plant to be built,” he stated.
He further described the development as a potential boost for investment including opening up businesses for car exports to countries like Ivory Coast, Niger, Burkina Faso, and beyond.
