The Corporate Affairs Officer at the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Godwin Mahama Ayaba, has described as “sad” the significant decline in the leadership standards of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, the party, once celebrated for its intellectual depth, has now fallen short of the standards it was known for.
In Mr. Ayaba’s view, the current leadership of the NPP has failed to uphold the values of intellect and clarity that previously defined the party.
“Sometimes I laugh, when NPP deliberately, even including their Parliamentarians, change Mahama is a hope to Mahama is a hole. I’m not surprised, because, we had a whole party, including their flagbearer, and President saying that a review of SHS means cancellation.
“They [NPP] are a bunch of people who do not know anything. I’m not surprised and it tells you the kind of people in the NPP now,” he told Ohemaa Sakyiwaa on Angel TV.
He argued that the party, once admired for attracting individuals of academic and professional distinction, has now lost that reputation, pointing to recent public blunders as evidence of weakened leadership and poor judgment.
“Those days when someone wants to be part of NPP, they would ask for first degree, because they were known to be people of intellect, but today, the standard of people they have, it’s just sad,” Mr. Ayaba expressed.
He remarked also that “I’m not surprised that they have people like Afenyo Markin in NPP today, if they see hope and say hole, see review as cancellation, then you know the kind of…. in NPP,” he remarked.
Mr. Ayaba made these remarks on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Angel TV, Tuesday, December 9, 2025, during a panel discussion segment.
