Evangelist Papa Shee, a close family friend of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has shed light on how the ongoing widowhood claims saga started.
In an exclusive interview, Papa Shee explained that tensions began shortly after the one-week celebration. According to him, the family held a meeting at East Legon, where Abusuapanyin Agya Wusu referred to Odo Broni as “Asew” (in-law).
This remark, he said, sparked objections from a friend of Akosua Serwaa, who insisted the family head should not address Odo Broni that way due to issues that had arisen during the one-week observance.
Papa Shee revealed that during the one-week ceremony, a banner had been displayed indicating “first wife” and “second wife,” a situation he believes contributed to the escalating tension.
“When Abusuapayin called Odo Broni as ‘Asew,’ Akosua Serwaa’s friend told him to retract the statement, insisting he must give respect to whom it belongs,” he recounted.
The evangelist emphasized that having children with Daddy Lumba does not automatically qualify any woman as his wife. “The fact that you have children with him doesn’t mean you’re his wife,” he stated.
He further narrated that Akosua Serwaa later called the family head aside, stating clearly that she did not want any confrontation during the funeral.
“So Akosua Serwaa called Abusuapayin outside and told him that she doesn’t want to go back and forth with anyone during the main funeral, she won’t allow that,” he said.
According to Papa Shee, she insisted she would not allow anyone else to perform the widowhood rites because she considered herself the legal wife of the late musician.
