A youth group affiliated to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Sampa, in the Jaman North District, has urged the Sports Ministry to reconsider the appointment of Yaw Dabo as Ghana’s Grassroots Football Ambassador.
In a statement, the leader of the group, Joshua Adu Kofi, highlighted that Yaw Dabo campaigned against President John Dramani Mahama and all parliamentary candidates from the region during the 2024 general elections.
Consequently, they believe the appointment is not supportable and have called on both the President of Ghana and the Sports Ministry to terminate it.
The group further expressed that appointing Yaw Dabo could demoralise many party loyalists who share their concerns. They warned that this decision may negatively impact the party’s prospects in upcoming elections.
“The appointment of Yaw Dabo will bring down many party faithful members and this may affect the party’s chances in the future,” they declared.
In conclusion, while the group opposes Yaw Dabo’s appointment, they have expressed support for any other individual who may be appointed to the role.
