The Central East Regional Police Command has undertaken an intelligence-led operation at three different locations in the Senya Beraku enclave in the Central Region to clamp down on criminal activities by some individuals.
The team first visited Kukwado, a coastal area, where six suspects were arrested with substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other related items.
Four suspects, including a female, were arrested at a yellow house near a cemetery with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, locally laced gin ‘akpeteshie’ (laka), a 32-inch television set, and different brands of cigarettes.
“Again, the team proceeded to Awiaso, where three (3) suspects, including a female, were arrested together with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a toy gun, shisha, local gin, and a game pot,” a police statement said, indicating the exercise was carried out on December 17.
The statement noted that the hideout of these suspects was subsequently set on fire by the team.
In addition, thirteen suspects were arrested at three different locations.
They include Michael Essel, aged 23; Frederick Koranteng, aged 23; James Essel, aged 24; Jones Koranteng, aged 20; Daniel Essibu, aged 30; Kofi Abbiw, aged 28; and Kofi Essibu, aged 57.
Others are Klotey Poree, aged 26; Bismark Sarbeng, aged 26; Kojo Otoo, aged 24; Thomas Quartey, aged 22; Gladys Jackson, aged 19; and Florence Adenue, aged 25.
According to the statement, both suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
