Businessman Akwasi Addai Odike has suggested that the implementation of the government’s flagship 24-hour economy policy should empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for sustainability.
According to him, the policy framework should be oriented towards resourcing an enterprise-driven economy, intended to drive growth and create more employment opportunities.
Speaking on Angel TV’s Anopa Bofoɔ on Monday, February 9, 2026, Mr. Odike criticised the incumbent government’s decision-making.
Highlighting the importance of his suggestion, the businessman-turned-politician viewed the 24-hour economy policy as creating pressure on demand relative to what industries are currently producing.
“The definition of 24 hour economy, in my own definition, is not what is in their policy structure.
“It is a demand-driven economy environment which will contribute to pressure on products and services the environment is producing,” he asserted.
He also noted that products consumed in the country are largely imported, stressing that the 24-hour economy should be spearheaded by the private sector.
Mr. Odike opined that such a call, if heeded, should be designated to concentrate on “industrialization and mechanization of agriculture, rather than public sector redistribution.”
