President John Dramani Mahama has entreated all newly designated ambassadors to conduct themselves with dignity, discipline and humility in the line of duty.

The President gave this advice during the commissioning ceremony of the newly designated ambassadors on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Presidency.

At the ceremony, five designated ambassadors were commissioned to five different countries.

They are Ambassador Saeed Sella Sinare, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Lt. Col. (rtd) Alhaji Kumal Sander Ahmed, Ambassador to the Republic of Mali; Mr. Kofi Attor, Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba; and Mrs. Regina Appiah-Sam, High Commissioner to the Republic of Malta.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Mahama urged them to uphold the highest ethical standards and respect confidentiality.

“Uphold the highest ethical standards, respect confidentiality, and let your conduct reflect the values we cherish; honesty, respect, fairness, professionalism and service,” he said.

He advised them to listen carefully, speak thoughtfully and represent Ghana with calm confidence.

“I urge you to engage our diaspora with seriousness and empathy. The Ghanaian diaspora remains a vital national asset, contributing to our economy, projecting our culture and supporting our national renewal,” he added.

He admonished them to adopt a welcoming and responsive approach to the concerns of all Ghanaians living abroad.

“Therefore, let your missions be welcoming, responsive to their issues and humane, ensuring that every Ghanaian abroad receives professional and compassionate assistance,” he urged.

He also encouraged the ambassadors to work closely with staff of their respective missions and to foster harmony, discipline and a professional working environment.

He stressed that effective leadership abroad begins with unity within the missions.
