The Ministry of the Interior has confirmed that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
The ministry described the development as “disturbing.”
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Minister for the Interior, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, indicated that the attack occurred while the traders were traveling from Ghana to the neighboring country.
“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso on Saturday, February 14, 2026,” the statement said.
The Ministry said the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso was liaising with Burkinabe authorities to visit the scene, gather details, and assist in identifying any Ghanaians affected.
The Ministry added that more information would be communicated to the public as details become available.
Titao, in northern Burkina Faso, has faced repeated armed attacks in recent years and has been under siege by Islamist militants.
