Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay, has spoken out against the stigmatization of Ghanaian women following the circulation of sexually explicit videos on social media, insisting that “Ghanaian ladies are not cheap.”
While performing at a recent show, the musician called on Ghanaians to unite and seek accountability for the foreign national she believes intentionally released the videos to tarnish the image of Ghanaian women.
“I think this is the time for us to come together and find the white man who committed this unspeakable act because he did it deliberately to make Ghanaian ladies look cheap, but we are not,” she stated.
Wendy Shay also appealed to the public to stop shaming the affected women, stressing that the situation could happen to anyone and that the victims deserve empathy rather than ridicule.
“What happened to our fellow ladies can happen to anybody else, so we should reduce the stigma because they are also human,” she noted.
She further argued that some of the women’s decisions may be linked to long-held societal beliefs formed during childhood, particularly perceptions that place foreigners above locals. According to her, such mindsets have influenced how some young women view relationships and opportunities.
The singer concluded by urging Ghanaians to remain united, support the affected women emotionally, and pray for their healing as the country reflects on the broader social issues raised by the incident.
