The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency, Abena Osei Asare, has underscored the need for integrity-driven professionals in Ghana’s accounting sector.
According to her, the country does not merely need more professional accountants, but rather professionals whose work embodies honesty and accountability.
She explained that what Ghana requires are accountants whose values and conduct strengthen institutions and promote transparency in public and private life.
“My message was simple. Ghana does not simply need more professional accountants. Ghana needs incorruptible professional accountants.
“Professionals whose signatures stand for truth, integrity, and accountability,” she said.
The MP made this assertion at the 46th Graduation and Admission Ceremony of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Class of 2026, held on February 28.
Speaking further, the lawmaker reminded the graduands that chartered accountancy is not only about qualifications or career success.
“It is about integrity, discipline, independence and public trust. Our country needs professionals who will stand for truth, insist on transparency and choose principle over pressure.”
Madam Osei Asare congratulated the graduands and their mentors, expressing hope that the knowledge they have acquired will strengthen institutions and contribute to building the Ghana the nation aspires to.
