Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, called on party members and the public to remain patient amid concerns over the limited number of recruits being admitted into Ghana’s security services.

According to him, the government is prioritizing efforts to stabilize and strengthen the economy as part of broader plans to create more employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth.

His remark coincides with a statement by the Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, that only 5,000 positions are available for final enlistment, despite nearly 500,000 applicants.

Speaking to party supporters in Dodowa during his ‘thank you tour’ of the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Asiedu Nketia urged restraints as the government works to find a sustainable solution to the issue.

“The anger will not solve the problem. Without sufficient funds, how can we employ more than necessary? Fixing issues takes time. The first priority is to strengthen the economy, and President Mahama is working diligently on this.

“We are already beginning to see the benefits. We must exercise a little more patience to allow these efforts to create opportunities for everyone,” he stated.

According to Mr. Asiedu, “Rising impatience will not help. Let us learn to be patient. Things will improve, and this government is committed to opening up opportunities for all.”
