District Chief Executive (DCE) for Okere, Eric Williams Ayettey, has led staff of the Okere District Assembly, assembly members, and other stakeholders to plant 3,000 trees at Nifa SHS and Presbyterian Senior High Technical School at Adukrom in the Eastern Region.

The exercise is aimed at protecting the environment and expanding the district’s green cover.

Speaking to Angel News at Adukrom, Mr. Ayettey said the initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to protect the environment through mass tree planting.

“ Trees are very important to human beings. That is why we are planting 3,000 new trees this year to add to the 2,000 we planted last year,” he stated.

He urged all residents of Okere and Ghanaians at large to help protect trees and the wider environment.

Also speaking, the Forest Range Manager in charge of Boti Falls Forest Reserve and Akuapem Range, Joyce Asare appealed to residents to safeguard the newly planted trees.

She said trees play a vital role in human activities and must be preserved for future generations.
