The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has cautioned the public against fraudulent documents circulating online claiming to offer grants under an “Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026”.
In a press release issued on Thursday, July 24, 2026, MoFA said it had noted with concern the circulation of documents titled “Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026 Application Form” and “Conditional Approval of your application for the Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative (2026)” on social media and other online platforms.
The Ministry stated that the documents falsely claim it is running an Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative and invite members of the public to apply for grants. The fake circulars direct applicants to unofficial email addresses, websites, and contacts that have no affiliation with MoFA.
MoFA stated categorically that no such grants exist and that the circulations are intended to scam unsuspecting members of the public.
It added that no individual, committee, or organization has been authorized to receive applications, process grants, request accreditation fees, or solicit personal information on the Ministry’s behalf through these channels.
The Ministry said it is working with relevant security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Members of the public have been advised not to respond to any requests linked to the purported grant programme.
MoFA further urged the public to verify any information concerning the Ministry through the Public Relations Unit or its official communication channels before acting.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation in helping to prevent fraud and protect unsuspecting individuals from falling victim to the scam.
