Ghanaian music producer, Fred Kyei Mensah, has humorously cautioned couples to be careful when printing their wedding invitations after highlighting a mistake that could turn a romantic Bible quotation into an embarrassing message.
In a post, Fred Kyei Mensah shared a scenario in which a printer was asked to include 1 John 4:18 on a wedding card but mistakenly omitted the number “1” before the book of John.
According to him, the mistake changed the intended message entirely, turning a Bible verse about love into one that refers to a woman’s marital history.
The intended scripture, 1 John 4:18, states that: “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”
However, John 4:18 tells the story of Jesus speaking to a Samaritan woman, pointing out that she had had five husbands and that the man she was living with at the time was not her husband.
But John 4:18 says ” For You have had five husbands before and he whom you have now is not your husband,” he wrote.
Reacting humorously to the imagined mix-up, he added the expression, “Ei, sane ɛba ei. Asɛm aba!” suggesting that trouble would surely follow such an embarrassing mistake.
He concluded his post with the phrase, “Good beads don’t rattle,” adding a humorous touch to his warning.
