The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has pledged full support to Ghanaian fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her family following reports of alleged domestic abuse involving her husband.
This assurance was made by the sector minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, during a courtesy call on Mrs Addo and her family following the reported incident.
During the visit, the Minister interacted with the family and assured them of the Ministry’s continued support and assistance as they dealt with the situation.
The Minister emphasised the need to provide a safe and supportive environment for the family, particularly the children, stressing that they should not be made to bear the burden of conflicts or violence involving adults.
She noted that Nana Akua and the children would receive the necessary psychosocial and social welfare support to help them deal with the situation and safeguard their emotional well-being.
Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey further stressed that while the Police continue their investigations, the focus must remain on the well-being and protection of Nana Akua and the children, with appropriate measures taken to prevent further emotional distress.
She also said the Ministry will engage Nana Akua’s husband, who was unavailable at the time of the visit, while ensuring that the necessary support is extended to all those affected.
She assured the family, especially Nana Akua and the children, of the Ministry’s commitment to providing the necessary psychosocial and social welfare support, while working with the Police and other relevant institutions to safeguard their well-being, safety, and dignity and ensure that due process is followed.
