The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to cease all forms of campaign activities with immediate effect.
The directive was issued in a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, dated Sunday, October 11, 2026.
According to the statement, the leadership has received numerous complaints that some members with parliamentary aspirations have begun campaigning in various constituencies.
The party said such conduct is contrary to its regulations and Code of Conduct, creates an uneven playing field, and undermines the unity and discipline on which the party’s success depends.
The banned activities include mounting posters, billboards, banners and other branded materials, organising rallies, polling station executives meetings or tours for the purpose of soliciting support, distributing items or other inducements to delegates and party members, and paid media and social media advertising promoting a candidature.
The party also announced that party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, and TESCON, are forbidden entirely from posting any parliamentary aspirant on any social media platform, including Facebook, X and Instagram, or enabling such premature parliamentary aspirants’ activities.
“Any person who fails to comply will be dealt with in accordance with the party’s disciplinary procedures, which may affect their eligibility to contest,” the statement said.
The party added that it will announce the timetable and guidelines for the party’s parliamentary processes in due course, and directed constituency and regional executives to ensure strict compliance within their jurisdictions.
