Ghanaian actor, Don Little, has recounted a disturbing childhood story involving alleged traditional rites, claiming that his mother was once told that dwarfs had come for him when he repeatedly disappeared as a baby.
According to the actor who was born with a large body size, his mother explained that after his birth, some people requested that he be taken to his father’s hometown for traditional rites.
Speaking about the experience, Don Little said his mother spent several months in their hometown, where she reportedly noticed that he would sometimes disappear after she placed him down and returned to check on him.
He explained that his mother, who did not understand what was happening, informed his father, prompting them to seek clarification.
“They told them I wasn’t missing; dwarfs had come for me, and so they would bring me back. So they did some rites, and it stopped,” he recounted.
Don Little added that the alleged incidents did not happen again after he stopped visiting the hometown at about five or six years old.
The actor further disclosed that he experienced disturbing dreams while growing up, in which a fetish priest chased him.
According to him, when his family sought an explanation for the dreams, they were allegedly told that there were plans to use him for the role of a fetish priest.
Don Little also expressed concern about what he described as the way short people are associated with traditional religious movie roles in Ghana.
He argued that people of short stature are often linked to fetish priesthood roles, particularly in traditional narratives, but are not given similar consideration when it comes to roles associated with wealth or love.
“It’s only in Ghana they want to use we the short ones for fetish priest role. When it’s about money or love, they don’t give us that role,” he said.
