Fanaka International University College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Investment and Securities Institute (GISI) to strengthen academic and professional collaboration in finance education.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the Fanaka campus.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Rector of Fanaka International University College, Samuel Agyei-Ampomah, described GISI as a key institution in Ghana’s capital market, supported by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Ghana Stock Exchange, the Central Securities Depository and other stakeholders in the securities industry.
He said postgraduate education should go beyond earning academic qualifications and serve as a catalyst for career advancement and professional development.
“We believe that academic excellence must be measured by market readiness and a post graduate degree should not merely be a credential on the wall but a powerful catalyst in career development,” he said.
Mr. Agyei-Ampomah explained that aligning the college’s Master of Science (MSc) Finance programme with GISI would significantly enhance its value by creating a pathway to professional licensing, broadening access to a global professional network, and future-proofing the curriculum.
On licensing, he said the partnership would align the academic curriculum with GISI’s standards, potentially allowing students to benefit from relevant exemptions and progress towards licensed practice after graduation.
In terms of global relevance, he noted that the collaboration would connect students to a wider professional qualification network, equipping them with competencies relevant to financial markets in Ghana and international financial centres such as London, New York, Hong Kong and Johannesburg.
On curriculum development, he said the partnership would give students and faculty access to current insights in emerging asset classes, corporate governance and digital financial frameworks through GISI’s professional development initiatives.
According to him, the collaboration would prepare graduates not only to understand traditional finance but also to navigate the future of investment and financial markets.
“Our graduates will enter the markets with not just understanding the legacy finance but mastering the future of investments,” he stated.
Mr. Agyei-Ampomah expressed appreciation to GISI’s leadership, including its leader, Ekow Afadzie, and Chief Executive Officer, Alexander Williams, for supporting the partnership.
He described the MoU as more than a formal agreement, saying it represented a shared commitment to promoting excellence, driving innovation and training the next generation of financial leaders to contribute to Ghana’s and Africa’s economic development.
“This MoU is more than ink on paper. It is a shared covenant to champion excellence, to fuel innovation and to train the next generation of financial leaders who will steer the economic destiny of Ghana and the continent,” he said.

GISI Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Alexander Williams added that the agreement went beyond a conventional academic arrangement, describing it as a structured collaboration that integrates academic learning with professional development.
“This MoU is a structured academic professional collaboration. It is not just academic,” he said.
