Former Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North Constituency, Fuseini Issah, has postulated that the current power outage is not affecting the ongoing voters registration exercise conducted by the Electoral Commission.
He addressed concerns regarding the challenges faced by the Electoral Commission (EC) during the registration process, particularly regarding network issues and not power cuts or faulty equipment.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, May 09, 2024, Issah pointed out that the slow registration pace was primarily due to network challenges, not dumsor or equipment malfunctions.
The former law maker clarified that prior to the registration exercise, thorough planning was undertaken to ensure smooth operations. He highlighted that the EC even announced during a press conference that contingencies, such as the provision of generators, were in place to mitigate any potential power interruptions.
“Before they began the exercise, the Commissioner held a press conference to inform us about provision of generators as aback up in case power challenges are faced.”
He emphasized that while the exercise may experience occasional interruptions, it does not necessarily indicate widespread ‘dumsor’ that will affect the activity but rather points to specific issues within the system.
