Security Consultant, Richard Kumadoe, says activities of extremist groups along various border towns across the country, should be the least of Ghana’s worries ahead of the December 7, elections.
He indicated that though Ghana has over the past years been experiencing violent clashes at its border regions, those issues do not create problems for the country’s electoral system.
“Though I know the danger in cross border crimes and terrorism [activities]… since I set up the Independent Election Security and Compliance Watchers (IESCW) in 2007, I have used it all over the country and it has never occurred to us that border towns have created so many problems for the country during elections,” he said on the Angel Morning Show on Monday, May 13, 2024.

The security analyst indicated that “It is our own responsibilities and lackadaisical attitude of managing elections and that is going to create problems for us one day.”
Speaking further to the host, Kwadwo Oppong Kyeremeh, Mr. Kumadoe admitted the danger in “cross-border crimes and terrorism activities” to every country in which Ghana is no exception.

Richard Kumadoe’s assertion is borne out of the many issues in the ongoing limited voter registration where both the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress have been accusing each other of busing people from neighbourhood countries to partake in the exercise.
