In a concerted effort to bolster national identity documentation and security measures, the National Identification Authority (NIA) has collaborated with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to initiate a special Ghana Card registration campaign in Pusiga.
Commencing on May 20th and extending until June 14th, 2024, the program targets Ghanaian residents along the border with Burkina Faso. This strategic initiative is being rolled out in two phases to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Phase One, spanning from May 20th to May 31st, will encompass registration centers at Widana/Pulmakom Area Council, Kulugungu Primary School, and Pusiga Area Council. Phase Two, scheduled from June 3rd to June 14th, will include registration centers at Zuabulga Primary School, Kultamise Primary School, and Hariya Primary School in Pusiga.
Applicants are required to present original documents such as a Birth Certificate, Ghana Passport, proof of naturalization, or a certificate of acquired citizenship. In instances where these documents are unavailable, individuals can be vouched for by a relative or two approved community members who have already registered and received their Ghana Cards.
It is emphasized that providing false information during registration or aiding foreigners in obtaining a Ghana Card is a punishable offense, subject to fines and/or imprisonment.
