Ghana has officially launched its Okada Motto App, designed to enhance the convenience of the Okada business in the country. The launch featured former Black Stars player Majeed Warris and numerous Okada riders.

The event took place at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on Thursday, May 29, 2025, under the theme “Powering the Streets, Fueling the Future.” Okada Motto promises a fast, safe, and convenient means of transport for Ghanaians.

This platform boasts professionally trained and licensed riders ready to serve the community with rides and deliveries.

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, expressed in his speech that the Okada Motto App would not only benefit users but also reinvest resources to support Ghanaians who patronise it.

He assured attendees that the Okada business would eventually transition from Okada motorcycles to Okada cars as the system evolves.

According to him, this upgrade would particularly benefit those interested in using Okada cars for their businesses.

Mr. Mubarak advised Okada riders to safeguard their licenses, emphasising the importance of using them wisely.

“When you get your license, make sure you hold it firm so that you can work with it to help yourselves. This App, as you all know, is not like other apps such as Yango and Uber, which are foreign companies.

“When they generate profits, they send them back to their home countries. Ask them: how many of them have even invested in Ghana?

“So let us hold on to this and own it as a truly Ghanaian mobile app, so that we can gain a portion of the profits and reinvest those resources in our people here.

“As the system becomes more established, we even want to migrate from Okada motorcycles to Okada cars,” he assured.

Dr. Sumaila Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Okada Motto, stated that the newly launched Okada Motto App would revolutionise the way Ghanaians travel.

He noted that this initiative would restore dignity to Ghana’s motor riders, helping to eliminate discrimination in their profession.

“This new app is a movement that has come to change the way Ghanaians move from place to place, and it is here to provide dignity to our riders.

“No longer will we refer to someone merely as an Okada rider; now, you are here in your uniform, equipped with a helmet, and most of you possess your licenses, making you professionals in your field,” he said.

The newly launched Okada Motto App has also expanded to Liberia and Sierra Leone, with its headquarters located in Ghana.

The Okada Motto App is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store, offering users a new and engaging experience.
