The Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced a 50% cut in school fees for Nursing and Allied Health students, effective from the 2025/2026 academic year.
In a press release signed by the Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the MoH, Tony Goodman, the initiative is in line with the government’s “No-Fee-Stress” Policy, designed to alleviate financial stress for tertiary students across the country.
According to the Ministry, all first year nursing and allied health students will have half of their approved fees covered by the government.
“By this initiative, Government has absorbed about half of the approved fees for all first-year students enrolled in Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions.
“All institutions are strictly required to adhere to the approved fees and items as communicated by the Ministry,” the statement read.
The Ministry cautioned institutions against charging excess fees or demanding payments for covered items, as per the policy guidelines.
The fee reduction, according to the Ministry, is a testament to President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to making healthcare education more accessible to parents and students who are determined to pursue their academic and professional dreams in the health sector.
The Ministry further noted that, heads of training institutions have been tasked to kick-start the admission process for the new academic year.
“By this notice, heads of Health Training Institutions are directed to commence the necessary processes leading to the admission of students for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the statement instructed.
