Black Stars duo Alexander Djiku and Joseph Paintsil will miss Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
The two players, who were included in the squad for the two fixtures, could not join the team in Accra before their departure for N’Djamena, hence their unavailability for the away fixture scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2025.
“Paintsil arrived in Accra this morning, having missed his connecting flight from New York to Accra due to a delayed departure from Los Angeles. Alexander Djiku is in Moscow to sign a contract and will therefore arrive in Accra on Friday,” the GFA noted.
However, the duo are expected to be available for the clash with Mali on Monday, September 8.
The technical team will therefore work with 22 players for the game against Chad, scheduled to take place in N’Djamena.
