The Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper Manya Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region, Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, has announced that inquiries are currently underway regarding the misappropriation of public funds in his constituency, allegedly carried out by the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, to support the reset agenda.
In a media address, the MP remarked that numerous initiatives in the district were included in the common fund; however, contractors for these initiatives had not received payments over the last eight years under the previous NPP government.
He mentioned a specific case involving a six-unit classroom block at Akotoklo-Gua, where the contractor was not compensated despite the project being recorded in the common fund.
According to him, Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) is set to function in Upper Manya Krobo to assist the reset agenda of John Dramani Mahama.
“Me and the DCEs have agreed to clear that debt so that the school buildings we’ll get it back.
“Today, we called the contractor to come for his money, and today happens to be the day he officially handed over.
“And this school building, from the foundation to roofing to painting, the NDC government that resumed power eight months ago has paid all the debts,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Kwasi Lawer, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper Manya Krobo, pointed out some financial obligations he inherited as legacy debts resulting from the misappropriation of public funds, which total over sixteen million Ghana Cedis (16,895,309.65) due to the actions of the previous NPP government in the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly.
These comments were made during the inauguration of a six-unit classroom block at Akotoklo-Gua in the Upper Manya Krobo District.
