Fire erupted at a group of commercial shops selling various beverages near the Shell Filling Station at Achimota Abofu on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
The fire was reported at 3:08pm, with the first fire appliance arriving at the scene at 3:26pm.
The emergency services, including the Anyaa, National Headquarters, Legon, and Madina Fire Stations, responded promptly to the incident.

The fire was confined at 4:55 pm, brought under control at 5:56 pm, and completely doused at 6:12 pm.
According to the GNFS, three people were slightly injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Fortunately, no firefighters suffered any injuries during the rescue operation.
Despite the destruction caused by the fire, firefighters were able to save seven metal containers holding soft drinks and tissue papers, along with nearby structures, thereby preventing more damage.

The prompt action taken by the fire stations prevented a potentially much bigger disaster, and investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
