Sports Minister lauds Yaw Dabo’s commitment to unearthing football talents

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has praised the founder and bankroller of Dabo Soccer Academy, Yaw Dabo, for his immense contribution to football development at the grassroots.

He underscored that Mr. Dabo’s vision is a shining example of what it means to believe in Ghana, its youth, and the power of grassroots sport.

Mr. Adams said this in a Facebook post following a courtesy call paid on him by Yaw Dabo on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

According to the minister, he is deeply moved by Dabo’s “commitment to unearthing raw potential and offering these young talents not just a place to play, but a platform to grow.”

“What began as his personal story has grown into a movement; one that is reaching children from orphanages and remote communities, giving them access to sport, education, and dignity.

“He is investing where most overlook; at the base of the pyramid, where hope is scarce, yet talent abounds,” he said.

He stressed that in a country where many speak, Dabo acts, and called for a culture of honouring those who, through their own sweat and sacrifice, are rewriting the story of Ghanaian youth.

“Let us celebrate those building bridges where others see barriers. Those making sport a tool for transformation; one child, one village at a time,” Mr. Adams said further.

In the minister’s view, the Kumawood actor turned football administrator’s story is proof that “impact doesn’t always need permission, its only purpose.”
