Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Ernest Kofi Davis commended the unwavering dedication and commitment of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration to practical science education in the country.
He noted that this was evident in the implementation of key initiatives aimed at improving and enhancing the quality of science education.
He highlighted this at the official launch of the STEM Box initiative for Basic Schools on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
He was joined by President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, at the official launch.
In his remarks, the Director-General described the introduction of the STEM Box as a “game-changing toolkit that brings hands-on STEM learning directly into every classroom.”
Professor Davis further heaped praises on the government, indicating that it must be “appreciated” for its “strong commitment” to practical science education.
He noted that this initiative will spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and help pupils develop the critical skills needed in a world shaped by robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation.
He emphasised that GES remains fully committed to supporting teachers with training and guidance to ensure effective use of the STEM Box across the country.
“The nationwide rollout marks an important step in equipping Ghanaian children with the tools to become confident problem-solvers and future innovators,” Professor Davis admitted, and stated that “STEM in every classroom, a brighter future for every child.”
He extended the GES’s appreciation to all partners and called on school leaders, teachers, parents, and communities to support this exciting new chapter in STEM education.
