A disastrous fire broke out at the Bambolino washing bay at Lapaz, behind Access Bank destroying two containers.
Reports indicated that the fire erupted suddenly, engulfing a fashion design shop and a decor warehouse, while nearby residents rushed in with buckets of water, doing their best to extinguish the flames, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Angel News reporters quickly arrived at the scene and spoke with local residents, who expressed their frustration over the incident.
According to the residents, the fire was caused by someone burning rubbish behind the containers, resulting in significant losses.
“They were burning rubbish behind the containers, and this has left us in debt, who will pay for our losses?” they lamented.
The residents voiced their disappointment regarding the delay of the Ghana National Fire Service’s intervention.
“I called the fire service, but they did not answer the calls. We did all we could to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other areas,” they expressed.
They further pleaded with the government to make water tenders available at various locations for a quicker response to such situations.
