Vegetarian Highlife singer, KK Fosu, has reaffirmed his ambition to enter politics, announcing that he will contest the Akuapem North parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections.
The musician disclosed that he is determined to unseat the constituency’s current Member of Parliament, Sammy Awuku, expressing confidence that he has what it takes to emerge victorious.
Speaking in an interview, KK Fosu revealed that he had initially intended to contest the seat ahead of the 2024 elections, but those plans were put on hold after he was involved in a near-fatal road accident with fellow musician Bless on the Apam-Winneba Highway.
According to the highlife artiste, he will enter the race as an independent candidate, insisting that Sammy Awuku should also contest independently if he is confident of winning without the support of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
KK Fosu further argued that he is capable of defeating the incumbent lawmaker regardless of whether he runs on the NPP ticket, maintaining that the party no longer enjoys the level of influence it once had.
“I will contest as an independent candidate. If Sammy Awuku believes in his popularity, he should also contest without the NPP’s backing, and I will still defeat him,” he uttered.
