Presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpalu, has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) led by Jean Mensah for the way and manner the 2020 general elections were conducted.
“I commend the Electoral Commission for the professionalism it has displayed in conducting a transparent, peaceful and credible election, despite the few challenges it faced earlier”, Mr. Akpalu said on Monday, December 7, 2020, after voting in the nationwide election.
While congratulating the EC for ensuring that peace prevailed across almost all the polling centers in the 275 constituencies, he said, “so far I have visited about 100 electoral polling stations and anywhere I step a foot, electoral rules and protocols are being observed.”
According to him, despite few voters having difficulties in finding their names in some polling centres, the reduction in the number of voters per a polling centre was commendable because it largely brought peace at the centres.
In an interview with Kwame Tanko on Angel 102.9 FM, Mr. Akpalu noted that the security comprising the military, police, fire service, immigration, among others were very alert and efficient.
The electoral officers and polling agents, he said, were well trained and did their job well, including being polite to voters.
