Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak allows 6-year-old daughter to vote on his behalf

The Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak, has allowed his six-year-old daughter to thumbprint on his ballot paper at the polling centre where he voted.

The parliamentary candidate for the constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was convinced that he has done nothing wrong by holding his daughter’s hand to thumbprint on the ballot sheet.

Describing his six-year-old daughter as a princess, Muntaka Mubarak explained that, “I raised her thumb and did the thumbprinting; it was virtually me doing it. If I had given it to her, she would not have even known what to do”.

 

He further told Angel FM’s affiliate in Kumasi, Pure FM that, “She doesn’t even understand what’s going on. She’s my princess and I came with her during the last elections. I’m just taking her through the process”

The incumbent MP for Asawase acted in the full glare of the electoral officers at the polling centre as some voters took pictures and videos.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have taken to Twitter to express their views on the issue.

One social media user tweeted that “Ah!! Did Muntaka just allow his daughter to thumbprint his ballot paper?”
