The Member of Parliament for Suhum Counstituency in the Eastern Region, Kwadjo Asante has refuted claims linking his driver to the assault on one Bernard Kwasi Amoani in his head with a severe injury following a violence at a funeral.
The unfortunate incident occurred among two rival groups of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) at a funeral group over the weekend in Suhum.
Following this, the Lawmaker responding to media reportage of the said cutlass wound, he noted that his personal driver was not involved in the act, let alone picking a cutlass from his car.
“I wish to state categorically that my personal driver was not involved in the case neither was cutlass nor implement picked from my car as is being alleged in the media”.
He also debunked media assertions attributing the clashes to tension between followers of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and Trade & Industry minister, Allan Kyeremanteng.
“I further wish to state that the said conflict had nothing to do with HE. the Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and or the Hon. Minister of Trade and Industry, Allan Kyeremanteng. I pray that these eminent leaders of my party, the New Patriotic Party are accorded the needed respect and dignity and not brought into this unfortunate incident. As a party, we abhor any form of violence and wish to passionately call on our members and the public to remain calm and focused.
The MP also used the medium and expressed his sympathy to all affected persons involved in the incident and called on all coustituents to exercise patient as he teamup to smoke peace over the matter in the area.
