The Park Manager for Kakum Conservation Area, Samuel Annan-Riverson, has called for an intensified fight against wildlife crime and human-induced reduction of species that have wide-ranging economic, environmental and societal impacts.

Speaking with Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack in an interview, he said if human activities continue to shrink the habitat of wildlife and thus make it inhabitable it will have negative implications on future generations.

He made the call to join the world mark World Wildlife Day, which is celebrated on March 3 yearly.

He therefore warned hunters against the indiscriminate hunting of animals especially, in reserved areas.

Mr. Samuel Annan Riverson also reiterated the importance of celebrating 3rd March to create awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to people.

He was worried that continuous hunting is pushing the animals further into the forest, noting that previously one could see them in the communities.

Some residents of Assin Fosu , who shared their views on what Wildlife is called for the animals to be protected while others believed that God created them purposely for meat.

A resident stated that Wildlife are animals in the forest and their how they survive in their habitat.
