Accra Hearts of Oak are champions of the 2022 Ghana’s President Cup following a 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Friday night.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored first for the Phobians before Patrick Razak’s late goal secured a hard-fought win for the Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This is the fifth President’s Cup triumph for Hearts, one title less than Kotoko.
Hearts broke the deadlock through a Daniel Afriyie Barnieh 50th minute left footed strike after Asante Kotoko defenders failed to clear a cross from Fatawu Mohammed.
Asante Kotoko, however, levelled in the 76th from substitute Samuel Boateng whose close range shot went pass goalkeeper Richard Attah.
The game became intense in the closing stages as both coaches threw more men forward in search of the match winner.

In the 88th minute, Patrick Razak who was introduced in the second half added a late goal following a run of play to put the ball pass goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad making them winners.
The Porcupine Warriors tried to find a way back into the game but their efforts proved futile as referee Gabriel Arhin whistled to end the game.
The President’s Cup, which returned after a three-year absence due to COVID-19, is in honour of Ghana’s sitting president to commemorate the nation’s Independence Day celebration.
