GES announces death of Gold Track student who collapsed on campus

A second year Gold Track student of Oyoko Methodist Senior High School (OMESS) died after writing his last semester examination paper on Thursday.

Ms Jennifer Naa Doku Bolor was a General Arts student.

Her death comes a day to when Gold students in schools without pending coronavirus cases where declared free to go home.

A statement issued by management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) said it was “saddened” by her death.

“Jennifer, after writing the last paper of the semester exams on Thursday, 30th July 2020, reported sick to the school nurse and while she was being attended to, she collapsed and was rushed to St. Joseph Hospital,” it recounted.

The GES statement said her aunt who works at Koforldua was immediately informed.

“Jennifer unfortunately died on arrival at the emergency ward”.

According to the statement, the hospital authorities has yet to communicate to management of GES about the cause of death, which it promised to make known to the public.

“Management of GES extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and stands with them at this difficult time.

“May the good Lord grant her peaceful rest.”
