The Black Stars of Ghana on Monday won 5 -1 against 2022 World Cup host, Qatar.
From a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of the Eagles of Mali, coach C.K Akonnor made five changes ahead of his second game in charge of the senior national team.
The Black Stars donned the new yellow kit which many say has the true Ghanaian spirit. C.K Akonnor swapped his shirt and trousers look for a track suit.
The Qataris gave the stars early scares in the first and third minutes which goalkeeper Razak Abalorah dealt with perfectly.
However, it was the stars who took the lead in the 21st minute as Tarique Fosu connects a Jordan Ayew cross to settle the nerves of the Ghanaians. The joy of taking the lead was short lived as the Ali Moaz tapped in from a long pass which beat defender Alexander Djiku and goalkeeper Razak Abalorah, to keep the scoreline one apiece before half time.
The seond half saw the Stars having lots of possession. Captain Dede Ayew in the 62nd minute struck the ball into the left corner to once again give the Black Stars the lead.
The party continued as Samuel Owusu pounced on a Thomas Partey tailor-measured pass from Ghana’s half of the pitch to make the scoreline 3-1 in the 64th minute.
Dede Ayew followed his impressive play with another goal in the 83rd minute before substitute Caleb Ekuban added the final 5th goal in the 87th minute.
The game ended 5-1 as C.K Akonnor records his first win to seemingly bring back the love.
