For the first time in 5 years, Accra Hearts of Oak climbed to the top of the league log after an away win as the Porcupine Warriors were held by WAFA in Match Day – 26 of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League Season.
On Friday, Kojo Obeng Junior powered Hearts of Oak to victory after they traveled to Techiman and defeated Eleven Wonders by a lone goal at the Ohene Ameyaw Akumfi Park.
Both teams made incursions within the 11th minutes of the game but were well dealt with on the part of both sides to stop the opener on the day.
The visitors had a corner on the 25th minutes as striker, Obeng Junior with tapped it into goal to put Hearts ahead.
Eleven Wonders were down by 1 at the first department of the game after Obeng Junior strike.
The home side made two changes in the second half, Samuel Boakye and experienced attacker Alex Asamoah came on for Jonnah Ayeteey and Amankwah yet they couldn’t get the equalizer.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh took over from Emmanuel Nettey for Hearts as the visitors tried to double their lead.
Referee Abdul Latif Adaari finally blew his whistle to bring the game to an end after 90 minutes of action. It was a four consecutive win for Hearts as they go top of the log.
It was a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon after Asante Kotoko were held by WAFA at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors took the lead in the early minutes of the game as Ganiyu’s strike hits the upright and the ball is blocked back into the net as it hits the goalie’s body.
Justus Torsutsey levelled for WAFA at the stroke of half time as the striker heads home unmarked from close range.
In the second half, goalkeeper Felix Annan (Kotoko) made a good save after Derick Mensah (WAFA) shoots from close range.
Gama’s close-range shot on the 56th minutes was saved by the WAFA goalie and there is activity on the bench as Nettey was replaced with Taylor for Kotoko.
Both teams couldn’t get the win as the game ended a draw in Obuasi after four minutes of additional time.
After losing the last two games, Accra Great Olympics bounces back with a win over the weekend.
