Woman, 89, burnt to death as fire razes 3 houses in Assin Asempanaye

An 89-year-old woman, Abena Nkuma, was burnt beyond recognition when fire engulfed a house in Asempanaye in the Assin North District of the Central Region.

The old lady who was visually impaired, according to Angel News’ Kwame Asante Shadrach could not run for her life when the fire started around 2:00am on Thursday.

Kwame Asante continued that the old woman is a native of Assin Akyiano but paid a visit to her nursing daughter at Asempanaye about three days ago.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire started when the bulb in a faulty lamp holder cuaght fire and spread unto the mattress.

Three other houses were also razed down by the raging inferno.

Currently the deceased has been conveyed to the mortuary whiles fire service personnel have launched an investigation into the matter to ascertain the exact cause.
