A 58-year old woman, Akua Saa, in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region has been apprehended for allegedly slapping Kyebi Police Commander during the arrest of her son.
The Commander, Chief Superintendent Magnus Reindorf Sam, is reported to have arrested Frederick Sarkodie (the son in question) for engaging in trading of narcotic substances together with some four others.
The four include: Margaret, Kingsley Sarkodie, Vivian Saa, and Fiago Gilbert.
They were rounded up on November 18, 2021 at Akyem Sagyimase in the Abuakwa Municipality by some 20-armed Police officers, led by the Commander.
This was during a swoop exercise conducted within targeted ghettos in the assembly.
The officers’ operation was met with resistance when Madam Akua Saa prevent them from arresting her son Federick Sarkodie.
The refusal of the woman to allow the police take her son into custody resulted in an altercation which led to the slapping of Chief Superintendent Reindorf.
The armed men following the incident arrested Madam Saa and took her together with the suspects to the Kyebi Police Station.
Meanwhile, some 20 wraps of substances supposed to be narcotics, together with dried leaves believed to be marijuana, a lighter and a knife have been retrieved from the suspects.
They are expected to be processed for court within the week.
